A farewell note from Peggy

Dear Friends, I'm not saying good-bye, I'm saying "I'll see you soon." Many of you have already heard the news that Howard will be starting a new job in Anchorage on April 15. We have our home up for sale and also the boat. Please spread the word so we can sell them before we leave. Next meeting I will be bringing a tote with fabrics & books & a few notions. Nearly everything is priced at $5 a yard, $5 a book, etc. I also have a transferrable gift certificate from Flying Geese, value is about $75, I'll sell it for $65. I also MAY be selling my sewing table. If anyone is interested in that please let me know. 486-3666 or kodiakquilts@yahoo.com. I plan to see everyone at some point or another after we move to Anchorage. I will be one more contact you will have when you are in town, or stuck at the airport waiting for weather to clear. I'll keep same e-mail so you can always reach me that way. I'll keep you all posted with updates on phone, etc. once we are settled. Hope we can visit in person for at least a few minutes on our Valentine's Day Guild meeting. Hugs and warm regards, from PegWeston

Quilts for Haiti

Twelve quilters came by Bayside on Saturday. We cut lots of fabric and lots of kits and assorted fabrics left the firehall. Fabric and kits will be available at the February meeting,

We ended up with types of kits--one has 80 six inch blocks to be sewn into tops 8x10 blocks, the other a strip quilt. I have several of each left. Peg also put together 3 "manly" kits for our sevice projects.

Give me a call if you would like to put one of these together.

Port Lions Retreat

We have dates for our annual Port Lions Retreat! Mark your calendars for April 30th (Friday)- May 3rd (Monday) and plan to sign up at our February meeting. Our limit is 13 and the cost will be around $260 ($225 per person for our lodging and meals, $35 for travel). Payment will be due by the March meeting. Travel costs are determined by how many go and fuel costs at the time. David Horn has agreed to transport us again on the F/V Alysa Anne and we will leave port by 8 a.m. Friday morning, arriving in Port Lions in time for lunch. We will depart Port Lions by noon on Monday, arriving home around 3 p.m. Depending on circumstances, you may forfeit your payment if you cancel and are unable to find someone to take your place. This is a fun event ('adventure' as Mary Buben and Dee Parker call it) so you won't want to miss it!

Tomorrow is the All-Day Sew for Haiti

Peg and Ilva will be at Bayside Firehall tomorrow, Saturday, at 9:00AM. Ilva will bring her machine, mat cutter and other tools, and Peg has the guild fabric. We hope to get started on several quilts for survivors of the Haitian earthquake.

Come to work, or stop by. Bring your sewing gear or come pick up fabric to take home if you would like. This is a project in motion but at the beginning stages.
